FEATURED ARTIST: COOKIE DAVIS is an original artist with a vision of history unique to the south. She offers a wonderful view of black history that embodies the work and hardship of change in society. Two of her pieces of eight at the show are "A LONG WALK TO FREEDOM" which is a song sung by the African group Ladysmith Black Mambazo. It was originally performed, as written, by mine workers. Its lament and message reminds me of the Lost Boys of the Sudan and the story Rabbit Proof Fence. No matter the search or the searcher, freedom takes work, freedom takes faith. SERIES GOSPEL TRUTH I believe in angels. They're with us all the time (unless they're on a coffee break at Starbucks.) Some of them we see and know, and some are riding on our shoulders or in our hearts. Everybody needs at least one angel and some of us, the ones who don't listen well or get off track, need a herd of angels to help us each and every day. Silent Auction Policy and Procedure Silent Auction items will have corresponding bid sheets on or near each item. Any suspended art will have the sheets tethered or attached. Bidders will record their bid offer by indicating the bid amount, name, phone numbers and email addresses in the spaces provided. Please observe the minimum bid and bid increments to avoid being disqualified. All bids must be in whole dollar amounts. The silent auction will open at 6pm during the VIP reception and will end ten minutes after show begins. Winning bidders are expected to make payment during the intermission at the tables provided. Prevailing bidders may pay with cash, credit card or check. Prevailing bidders will be identified at each bid sheet by a member of our staff prior to intermission. The prevailing bidder will be identified on the bid sheet with a highlighted area on the bid sheets next to the items being sold. During intermission, the prevailing bidder must bring the bid sheet to the cashier showing the highlighted winning bidders name. The cashier will verify this against the master list and accept payment. In the event a bidder is not present to collect the item in question, bidder authorizes the auctionor to contact bidder and have the item delivered for payment to bidders desired location and pay for item on delivery. We would like to thank all the auction donors that have made this possible. All proceeds are being used toward funding the following year's Jacksonville Follies Awards Show. |
